Article Abstract:
Newly installed California State University Chancellor Charles Reed brings to his job the tenacity this former linebacker is known for. Reed assumes the job at a time when CalState, as well as the entire California public education system, is under intense scrutiny. He faces the challenge of educating a new batch of teachers and nurses who are in much demand in the state. He also must deal with the problem of increasing dissatisfaction within the senior faculty ranks, who are increasingly threatened by the growing use of part-time, non-tenured teachers.
