Net advances stress speed, but buy process enlarges
Article Abstract:
Corporate security buyers continue to be affected by the shift of security applications from stand-alone personal computers to integrated systems over local area, wide area and Internet network platforms. Now, there is more sharing of LAN/WAN infrastructure and more enterprise IT designs that include security apps and use of corporate, private and public backbones by security operations. Corporate players representing IT and telecommunications are now more involved in the buying cycle. Networking technologies are also improving. Meanwhile, advances in technology and consolidations in the industry are also affecting remote sites and branch office operations.

Electronic measures, procedures impact credit card fraud levels
Article Abstract:
Increased vigilance on the part of businesses coupled with security measures that have been installed in credit cards have contributed to a steady decline in the rate of losses due to credit card fraud in the US. A comparison of the figures from the early 1990s to 1999 reveal a positive impact for embedded artificial intelligence programs that are being used by the major card companies. The increase in online buying, a development that is expected to result in increased credit card fraud, has not created an impact so far.
