Pocket PC: a slap to Palm?
Article Abstract:
The introduction of new personal digital assistants (PDAs) by Casio, HP, Compaq and Symbol Technologies has heated up the race between Microsoft's Windows CE, the operating system of these PDAs, against that of Palm Pilot's Palm OS. The Palm Pilot has an 80% share of the PDA market but the Windows CE-powered PDAs called Pocket PCs have their own advantages. Among PocketPC features is a personal information manager with calendar, contacts, inbox, tasks and notes, Pocket Internet Explorer, Pocket Word with Excel, Windows Media Player and Microsoft Reader.

Shopping for digital video
Article Abstract:
Dayton-Hudson has added a digital video storage and retrieval to its security inventory. The addition of such technologies into its security inventory is part of Michael Anderson, director of asset protection for Dayton-Hudson's Department Store Division, and Systems and Technology Manager Sam Hildrebrandt's vision to incorporate the use of new technologies that can apply to retail asset protection, especially at the department stores. The addition of a digital video storage and retrieval to Dayton-Hudson's has enabled the retailer to finally record every transaction in every building and pairing image records with point-of-sale (POS) records, which was previously hard to do with the old analog system that it uses.
