Racial discrimmination and redlining in cities
Article Abstract:
Spatial discrimination, or redlining, prevents black workers from living in city centers, restricting their access to employment. When access cost for workers to employment centers is too high, cities are segregated by race, while sufficiently small costs segregate cities by employment status.

A new mechanism for the spatial mismatch hypothesis is provided. Spatial mismatch can be the outcome of optimizing behavior on the part of the labor market participants.
