Southland demands care and feeding from Davis
Article Abstract:
Californians from the Southland are expecting newly elected Gov Joseph Graham Davis to deliver his promises during the elections. Davis's platform was based on a centrist approach which should confront the issues that are important to the diverse populations of the Southland. Foremost is the education reform issue which should take billions of dollars to literally implement through buildings, books and classrooms.

Clout in the Southland
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the participation and roles performed by women in politics in California, United States, are discussed. Particular attention is given to examples of women who succeeded in climbing the political ladder and the characteristics of personality that took them there.

The author examines a recent spate of corruption charges against local officials in Southern California, and posits that lack of funds for initiatives and the cost of political campaigns is driving corruption.
