Lieutenant Governor
Article Abstract:
Democratic Assemblyman Cruz Bustamante won the Democratic nomination while Republican Sen Tim Leslie won the nomination for his party during California's primary election for the Lieutenant Governor's office. Bustamante won by capturing 73% of the party vote while his closest opponent, Tony Miller, got only 18%. Bustamante's plan to focus on his ethnicity in the coming Nov 1998 elections is timely since the Latino vote is becoming increasingly important in California.
