The voluntary provision of a pure public good: the case of reduced CFC emissions and the Montreal Protocol
Article Abstract:
The theory of the voluntary provision of a pure public good is examined in the behavior of countries to voluntarily limit chlorofluorocarbon emissions. Most of the reductions preceded the implementation of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. Empirical tests revealed that emission cutbacks have an almost linear relationship with national income when taste parameters are controlled. This relationship is statistically significant.

The participation decision versus the level of participation in an environment treaty: a spatial probit analysis
Article Abstract:
Formation of a group and its subsequent action is explained, via a two-stage game for which agents initially decide whether they would participate in a cooperative agreement, after which they select their level of participation. The resulting subgame perfect equilibrium, is applied to obtain a spatial probit equation that is used to estimate and separate the influences of the variables at the two decision stages.

Charity donations in the UK: new evidence based on panel data
Article Abstract:
Panel data estimates for 159 UK charitable organizations are analyzed using a fixed-effects estimation approach. The results show that social welfare charities typically raise funds to a point at which net revenues are maximized. Health and overseas charities tend to net revenue maximize while religious organizations maximize total revenues. Charities in general were neither total nor net revenue maximizers.
