When information dominates comparison learning from Russian subjective panel data
Article Abstract:
The influence of income distribution on individual satisfaction is examined. A micro-econometric assessment is suggested to show the connection between life satisfaction and income distribution. The results of the Russian longitudinal monitoring survey (RLMS) on the Russian population between 1994 and 2000 are presented.

The health implications of social security failure: evidence from the Russian pension crisis
Article Abstract:
A recent study, on the crisis in Russia, where many pensioners were not paid for an extended period of time, shows that the poverty rates among them doubled, and the intake of calories and protein declined significantly. The fact, that health is vulnerable to income shocks is investigated.

Do private transfers 'displace' the benefits of public transfers? evidence from South Africa
Article Abstract:
The private support, that focuses on the increase in state old age pensions, which are displaced by the government, are investigated. It is observed, that ignoring of crowding out, overstates the effects of the pension, which are evaluated.
