A step-by-step approach to identifying a partner - and making the partnership work
Article Abstract:
Hospitals should pay close attention to the process of selecting industrial suppliers. While prices offered is a major consideration in the selection process, there are other factors to consider. These include the number of suppliers to be considered, availability of supply selections, concessions to be offered and the coordination of systems and control. The benefits to be derived from a successful partnership with a supplier include prices negotiated, delivery services, purchasing reports, payment terms and delivery rate.

The hospital-supplier partnership: take care of the relationship first, and individual rewards will follow
Article Abstract:
A successful hospital-supplier relationship will result in an alliance that will be financially rewarding through the attainment of objectives. Hospitals strive mainly to reduce the costs of health care delivery while suppliers aim to increase their market share and profits. To build a successful relationship, both parties should first identify their strengths and weaknesses. Secondly, they should share confidential information on costs, utilization and procedures, and then continue this process as a dialogue.

Effective alliance - hospital partnering: beyond price
Article Abstract:
The services offered to hospitals by health care alliances and group purchasing organizations have developed from bargaining hospital supply contracts to other services, such as managed care consulting, clinical program support and research programs. The additional services result in cost savings achieved via inventory management, product standardization and logistics management. Aside from materiel management programs, pharmacy clinical programs are also provided.
