Capitation contracts: access and quality
Article Abstract:
Stringent measures must be imposed regarding cost conditions and preferences in order to effect the conditions necessary for the provision of quality health care. The regulation of the capitation fee and the imposition of appropriate taxes or subsidies to patients buying capitation contracts can be used to influence the quality of health care. However, since capitation fee regulation directly impacts on profitability, it could also result in a fewer number of health care providers.
