This article explores the commitment of nurse researchers who are self-described as passionate dissertation scholars. Most participants regard their methods as risky, exciting, socially relevant and personally meaningful.

The philosophic concepts of Edmund Hesserl are analyzed. He believed that intentions shaped our reactions. Phenomenology is the study of human reaction to various things that happen and is tied in with what is intended.
