Ready ... set ... grow
Article Abstract:
FPA Medical Management's growth strategy focuses on acquiring independent practice associations instead of purchasing physician practices. This method requires less capital investment but still provides opportunities to purchase practices after building long-term working relationships with the physicians. FPA has grown from 95 to almost 6,700 primary care doctors between 1995 and 1997, and estimates place 1998 revenues at $1.4 billion to $1.5 billion.

Make no little plans
Article Abstract:
The future of regional health planning agencies may be in jeopardy due to cutbacks in local, state and federal funding. Regional health planning agencies serve the needs of traditionally underserved populations including the geographically isolated and medically indigent. Shifting regional health planning to county health departments and community councils are two alternatives to independent health planning agencies.
