Determinants of managed care penetration
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the factors associated with differences in managed care penetration across geographic areas. The key alternative measures that were taken into account included market survey data on enrollments in managed care plans and the percentage of revenue physicians received from managed care contracts. Results indicate that some of the most important determinants of managed care penetration include labor market characteristics, demographics and supply side factors.
