The most important trend affecting the United States medical equipment industry is the rising demographics, particularly rising population that requires latest technologies. The manage care providers account for the largest segment in purchasing medical devices. The pricing trends, industry earnings, and growth through foreign operations of the industry are also discussed. The performance of different kinds of medical devices relating to different segments such as cardiology, orthopedics, etc are statistically discussed. Some diseases such as peripheral vascular diseases are showing prospects for the development of medical devices.
