Mullikin proves it's ready for risk

Long Beach, CA-based Mullikin Medical Centers is the first physician organization to receive a 'Knox-Keene' license to document its financial stability. Mullikin is part of MedPartners and had to prove its net worth at a minimum level and that standards were met for quality, network management, grievance response and claims paying. This license is provided by the state Department of Corporations.

UniHealth America's Professional Services Division has pioneered a unique strategy for developing and affiliating with medical groups in California. The hospital is focused on developing physician networks. Most physician groups receive payments through capitation. UniHealth owns part of PacifiCare and all of CareAmerica HMOs.
