Operating outlook should remain difficult into 2005
Article Abstract:
The operating trends of the United States for-profit hospitals for the 2004 are discussed. The volume growth in the first two quarters of 2004 was much lesser as compared to the year 2003. The growing popularity of specialty hospitals and increasing number of procedures in outpatient office settings has been having implications over the volumes growth. These conditions are no likely to improve in 2005 too.

Regulatory outlook brightens

The regulatory environment turned favorable for hospital operators in December 2003, with the signing of Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act. The budget plan for fiscal 2005 favored hospital industry, as it contained no cuts in Medicare funding.
