Partnerships: the prescription for healthier communities
Article Abstract:
Health care providers can benefit in an era of increased market competition and reduced government funding by forming coalitions or partnerships. Coalitions can provide financial support, increase visibility and credibility, and expand the number and range of human resources to tackle a common problem. Those forming coalitions should make sure to recruit people or groups with the same goals and give members a chance to know each other before starting to work on problems. Project L.O.V.E. (Love Our Kids - Vaccinate Early!) in Columbus, OH, is an example of a successful health care coalition.

Integrating multiple publics into the strategic plan: the best plans can be derailed without comprehensive up-front research
Article Abstract:
Health care organizations with multiple physician specialties should conduct comprehensive research up-front to come up with a strong strategic plan. Before proceeding, organizations should define at the outset the how the data will be used. Subsequent research should address all relevant publics, integrate all strategic data, and come up with an overarching organizational mission for the future.
