Survey: many CEOs overlook PR staff's role in strategic planning
Article Abstract:
A survey conducted by the School of Health Administration and Policy of Arizona State University at Tempe indicates a discrepancy between the attitudes of hospital administrators toward the importance of public relations and their attitudes toward their public relations staff. Over 75% of those executives surveyed consider public relations to have significant impact on a hospital's success, but almost half do not think their public relations directors play a significant role in upper management.

CEOs confuse roles of physician trustees
Article Abstract:
More than half the CEOs surveyed in a recent Hospitals magazine poll believe that physician trustees are more inclined to represent the medical staff, while only 19.3% believe they represent the community. The role of a physician on a hospital's board of directors should be to represent the point of view of the medical profession as a whole. Individual doctors may claim conflict of interest if asked to vote on matters that concern the medical staff.
