Switching from linen rental to NOG
Article Abstract:
Conversion of a healthcare institution linen program from rental to ownership involves careful planning and proper staffing. The process includes assessment of the quality of the goods and services of suitable textile companies. A competent launderer must also be determined. After contractual negotiations with the linen supply company and laundry, the new linen staff must be trained on auditing and tracking management aside from production of clean, comfortable and adequate linen supply. When the linen management system is implemented this way, its efficiency will prove to be financially rewarding as well.

Can computerization of linen management save real dollars?
Article Abstract:
Computer software have been designed to make linen management more efficient. With computerization, it is easier to track down linen usage throughot the healthcare facility. Analysis of these auditing or tracking data can be useful in pointing out the specific units in the facility that misuse the linen. These data is valuable in making operational changes regarding linen usage within the facility. However, an appropriate software technology must be adapted in order to provide financial and operational benefits to specific linen departments.

A common sense approach to linen management
Article Abstract:
Health care personnel should be made to realize that each one of them is responsible for hospital linen management. Hospital staff often take linens for granted thinking that their reprocessing and replacement is another department's problem. As a result of this attitude, huge amounts of money are being spent for linen management. To reduce operating costs and linen services expenditures, hospital administrators should make everyone aware that responsibility and ownership of linens reside with their actual user.
