The interaction of partial public insurance programs and residual private insurance markets: evidence from the US medicare program
Article Abstract:
The example of the US Medicare program is taken to investigate the effects of supplementary private insurance on insurance coverage for the risks not covered by the public program. It is suggested the partial public insurance provided by the Medicare program does not appear to impair the functioning of the residual private insurance market.
