Theoretical issues in cost-effectiveness analysis
Article Abstract:
The research done by Garber and Phelps and Meltzer used economic welfare theory in studying if the costs of life-extending interventions, induced by recipients who live long enough to incur them, should be incorporated in cost-effectiveness studies. However, controversy would persists since the findings of both studies are not the same. For instance, Garber and Phelps showed that future costs translate cost-effectiveness ratios by a constant.

The importance of patient preferences for comorbidities in cost-effectiveness analyses
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the importance of patient preferences for comorbidities in cost-effectiveness analyses. Results showed that, in performing cost-effectiveness analyses, it is important to consider patient attitude toward health in the absence of morbid conditions. This is to ensure that during evaluation of cost-effectiveness in different treatment alternatives, morbid conditions will not be ignored.
