Doctors in the US are beginning to take palliative care seriously. Hospitals in New York City have received millions in donations to improve end-of-life care and nurses all over the country are receiving funds for terminal care as well. A report by the National Coalition on Health Care and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement offers tips for doctors.

1918 killer flu virus reconstructed may help prevent future outbreaks
Article Abstract:
Researchers from the federal and universities have joined together the genetic sequence of the virus that caused the 1918 Spanish influenza pandemic and reconstructed the deadly pathogen to prevent future flu outbreaks. Researchers found that an avian influenza virus, an H1N1 strain that became adapted to functions in humans, caused the 1918 pandemic.
