A 10-year-old girl with urinary retention and a filling defect in the bladder
Article Abstract:
A 10-year-old girl was repeatedly admitted to a hospital because she was unable to urinate. An ultrasound scan revealed a mass in her bladder. A small endoscope was inserted into her bladder under anesthesia, which showed redness and swelling of her bladder tissue at the base of the bladder where it leads to the urethra. Tissue samples taken at that time were examined, which led to the diagnosis of eosinophilic cystitis. This is an inflammation of the bladder. She was treated with corticosteroids.
