A better way to select medical equipment
Article Abstract:
Time, space, services and resources are conserved when a single committee evaluates and selects medical equipment for a hospital. Established protocols ensure each request is consistently assessed, tested, evaluated, and chosen. Team members should represent nursing and hospital units that will use the equipment. One year after instituting such a committee, more staff members were interested in participating in equipment selection and staff communication had improved.

Interpreting legal mandates: assistance dogs in medical facilities
Article Abstract:
Disabled persons accompanied by service dogs have several legal concerns, particularly regarding their presence in hospitals. Service dogs help physically disabled persons with routine tasks, blind persons safely move through their day, and alert hearing-impaired persons to danger. The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 clearly specifies that disabled persons accompanied by service dogs cannot be denied access to any facility receiving federal funding.
