A changing group practice market: new head of MGMA describes his plans for his new role
Article Abstract:
The nation's largest group practice trade association, the Medical Group Management Assn (MGMA), has selected Thomas L. Adams as its new CEO. Adams sees group practice increasing as solo practice evolves into a niche specialty. Physicians will continue to join group practices and groups will continue to merge with other groups, especially in certain areas, such as California and the upper Midwest. The MGMA will help physician groups manage the business side of their operations.

Changing attitudes: death seen as failure, not natural
Article Abstract:
A published article by Jack D. McCue MD maintains that society needs to change public attitudes towards death. Public perception of death views it as a failure of medical diagnosis and therapy. McCue observes that society should view death as a natural and expected occurrence which would make it easier for people to cope with. The view of death as failure helps perpetuate urgent attempts at diagnosis when accommodation and acceptance may be more appropriate.
