Article Abstract:
Tuberculosis is increasing in industrial countries because drug-resistant strains have developed due to patients who do not follow through with a full six months of antibiotic treatment. There is great need for more research on the disease.

What is TB and how is it spread?
Article Abstract:
Mycobacterium tuberculosis is spread through the air, such as when an infected person coughs near another person. Current research on TB is out of date, so diagnosis can take weeks, and meanwhile the infected are spreading the disease.

Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis
Article Abstract:
Tuberculosis strains resistant to isoniazid and rifampicin are spreading in the US because patients did not continue to take the antibiotics long enough. Statistics on the epidemic are discussed along with alternate treatment.
