A five-gene signature and clinical outcome in non-small-cell lung cancer
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine gene expression in 125 surgical specimens of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using microarrays and real-time reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction in order to identify a gene signature that is correlated with the clinical outcome. The five-gene expression signature is closely associated with the clinical outcome in patients with surgically resected NSCLC which could be useful in stratifying patients according to risk in trials of adjuvant treatment of the disease.

Connecting the dots using gene-expression profiles
Article Abstract:
A repository of the gene-expression profiles of human cells, cultured in vitro and exposed to small bioactive molecules in a systematic manner is reported. The map represents a tool for the large-scale discovery of unexplored connections among small molecules, diseases, and the biologic pathways that join them and also has potential to suggest new treatment for human diseases.

Molecular diagnosis of Burkitt's lymphoma
Article Abstract:
A study examines whether gene-expression profiling could reliably distinguish Burkitt's lymphoma from diffuse large-B-cell lymphoma. Results reveal that the molecular classifier of Burkitt's lymphoma based on gene-expression profiling provides a quantitative and reproducible diagnosis that is superior to other diagnostic methods.
