Pennsylvania non-profit health plan Crozer-Keystone Health System keeps its pledge to improve public health legitimate by linking the success of its public health goals to the evaluation and bonus compensation of its CEO. If the two public health goals selected each year are met, the CEO receives a bonus. Policy analysts supporting the approach claim that, as a publicly financed asset, the health plan is thus held accountable.

Food-borne illnesses a growing threat to public health
Article Abstract:
Food-borne pathogens are a cause of a number of illnesses, some resulting in serious health conditions. Some 6.5 mil to 81 mil American suffer from food-borne illnesses, and about 9,000 die from such illnesses. Four state health agencies have set up a national surveillance system, which uses physicians as a key component in detecting outbreaks of food-borne illnesses.
