A new colonialism? - Conducting trials in India
Article Abstract:
The government of India signed a new rule in January 2005, which grants permission to foreign pharmaceutical companies and other interested parties to conduct trials of new drugs in India and simultaneously in other countries. India is an attractive site for such trials because of its genetically diverse population of more than 1 billion people, who are exposed to myriad diseases, ranging form tropical infections to degenerative disorders with no proper medications.
