A population-based study of the relationship between salt intake, bone resorption and bone mass
Article Abstract:
Research suggests that salt intake could be a risk factor for osteoporosis in both men and women. Studies of 154 subjects showed that salt intake is linked with bone resorption markers. Urinary sodium moderately correlated with urinary calcium and urinary deoxypyridinoline in men and women. Further research should be undertaken to clarify the impact of salt intake on fractures and bone mass.

Vitamin D levels in prepubertal children in Southern Tasmania: prevalence and determinants
Article Abstract:
The prevalence and determinants of 25-hydroxy D(sub3)(25(OH)D) in children from southern Tasmania are described. Sunlight is the major determinant of vitamin D stores and it was concluded that neither variation in skin type nor diet modified this association to any significant extent.
