A rough deal
Article Abstract:
Community care for people discharged from mental hospitals in the United Kingdom is creating problems due to lack of funds. The extra money needed to make the system work properly would be offset by savings in other areas such as social services, hospital accident admissions, and the criminal justice system. More hospitals are due to close, and the government also plans to increase controls of patients, but without proper funds these people are likely to end up in prison or treated as vagrants. It appears that people in charge of running the system are not themselves free from delusions.

Cognitive behavioural nursing therapy in paranoid psychosis
Article Abstract:
Cognitive behavioural nursing therapy (CBT) has developed over the last 20 years. CBT offers a therapeutic environment in which the patients are encouraged to reconsider their beliefs and delusions, to test the validity of these beliefs and ultimately accept alternative ideas instead. A case study of a patient who has been paranoid for eight years and is undergoing therapy is given. Details of his condition, subsequent treatment and a table indicating the outcomes is given.
