A sense of duty
Article Abstract:
A British nurse's experiences in a Japanese internment camp on Hong Kong Island during the Second World War are described. The nurse's frustration at being denied medical supplies that should have been issued to sick internees led her and a fellow prisoner to devise a highly daring plan to raid the camp's closely guarded dispensary. The nurse still trembles when describing her successful, but highly dangerous, mission.

Invisible visitors
Article Abstract:
Effective communication with patients and relatives is integral to optimum nursing care. Pressure of work should not prevent courteous relations with the public. The public may judge nurses on interpersonal relations. An unhelpful attitude to visitors may suggest insensitive patient care.
