A study of the effectiveness of staff support groups
Article Abstract:
Staff support schemes can help to alleviate stress in the workplace and therefore improve patient care within the NHS and reduce staff absenteeism. The support systems which have already been put into place have not yet been assessed in terms of their effectiveness. It is essential that a continual effort is put into these schemes to ensure that they are successfully performing their intended role. Good support should be facilitated by a non-managerial and independent member of staff, by ensuring a confidential environment for staff to discuss work-related issues.
