A woman with pelvic pain
Article Abstract:
A 42-year-old women complained of intermittent, severe suprapubic pain for several months, which she described as indigestion. The pain was not associated with movement, eating, or menses. Her history included hepatitis, pyelonephritis, irritable bowel syndrome, and a recent heavy period. Laboratory and initial imaging tests were not illustrative, but ultrasound examination revealed a gallbladder calcification confirmed at surgery as chronic cholecystitis. This common diagnosis may have been missed, given this patient's complex history, if she had not been proactive in her care.
