A woman with elbow pain
Article Abstract:
The case of a woman with elbow pain demonstrated the importance of matching clinical and definitive radiologic findings. The woman's medical history and lack of severe symptoms suggested she suffered from a contusion, but radiographic views revealed a nondisplaced fracture. Adults commonly experience impact fractures of the head or neck of the radius, and children often fall on an outstretched hand. Such cases should be clinically examined for fat-pad displacement along the distal humerus.

High-tech exercise and anterior knee pain
Article Abstract:
Patients who engage in high stress exercise programs and report pain behind the knee may be experiencing one of several conditions involving the joint itself or surrounding tissue. Knee examinations should evaluate range of motion and walking patterns. Further testing may include X-rays, magnetic resonance imaging, and computed tomography. Incorrect use of various exercise machines can produce characteristic knee damage. Knee bracing can be helpful.

A man with recurrent abdominal pain and sepsis
Article Abstract:
A case study involving an elderly man with abdominal pain and sepsis illustrates the challenges in making an accurate diagnosis and recognizing appendicitis symptoms. Though recurring pain is sometimes difficult to diagnose, acute inflammation can indicate appendiceal disease. Health care professionals should educate themselves about atypical presentations of appendicitis and other abdominal disorders.
