Article Abstract:
Dentists are most concerned about providing treatments that are appropriate for specific patients, receiving adequate compensation for their services, educating patients, increasing their productivity, and protecting themselves and their staff from infectious diseases. This was the conclusion of a survey of 3,558 US dentists. New dentists were also concerned about paying off their educational debts and financing their practice.

Dentists' views about managed care: summary of a national survey
Article Abstract:
About 90% of dentists surveyed felt managed care programs are not in the best interest of dental patients, and do not adequately reimburse dentists for treatment. The American Dental Association conducted the national survey of 5,850 private-practice dentists in 1995. Most respondents stated that they provided equivalent care to all patients, regardless of their method of payment.

Article Abstract:
Most US dentists believe the American Dental Association supports them in their work by recommending safe and effective products through its ADA Seal Program, lobbying Congress and federal regulators, and providing continuing dental education. Over 90% of 3,558 dentists who responded to the 2000 Membership Needs and Opinions Survey felt this way.
