Conservatives seek reform path
Article Abstract:
A group of conservative health industry policy-makers has circulated a petition that calls for substantial revisions to the tax exclusion for employer-paid health benefits. The group, which claims that 300 economists have signed the petition, says that the result of such tax changes would be increased consumer cost-consciousness. The taxing of employer benefits is the only issue on which the group has come to agreement, and it expects to face difficulties in getting any type of taxation legislation passed.

AMA delegates refuse to drop 'any willing facility' plan
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Assn has chosen to adopt a medical policy that will allow physicians to offer their opinions concerning medical plan selection but not to accept stringent 'any willing facility' regulations. Fairness in health plan selection is important. The 'any willing facility' terminology was developed to maintain health care facility access for all individuals.
