AMA today: more value per dues dollar
Article Abstract:
Local and state medical societies should control the cost of their membership dues because physicians view membership in these societies and in the American Medical Association (AMA) as a combined purchase. The AMA is freezing their dues as part of plan to increase membership. Membership size is important because the strength of AMA's political influence is largely a function of its membership size. Local and state medical societies can support the AMA by holding down the cost of their own membership dues.

School Health: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
Article Abstract:
Student health care services began in the early 1900s to screen for minor skin problems or eye and dental disease. At the end of the century, health problems have become more diverse and students are receiving intervention services in the areas of drug, tobacco and alcohol use, eating disorders, depression, pregnancy, HIV, sexually-transmitted diseases and violence. School health services are typically located in areas where students have no source of routine medical care.

AMA dues to remain unchanged in foreseeable future
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Association (AMA) is likely to maintain membership dues at $400 a year for regular members in 1993, and perhaps 1994, as part of a new membership initiative. According to an AMA Board Of Trustees report on membership and dues, the most frequent reason given for not joining the AMA is the cost of dues. The 'MD 2000' membership initiative aims to increase the percentage of physicians and students possessing AMA memberships to 50% by the year 2000.
