Abuse, spies and videotape
Article Abstract:
Covert video surveillance of parents suspected of child abuse in the North Staffordshire Hospital NHS Trust resulted in the conviction of 33 parents, but some experts question the use of the technique. Nurses covertly observed the behaviour of parents in a cubicle with their children, and raised the alarm if an incident which threatened the safety of the child occurred. Some experts believe that nurses should not have to carry out this sort of work, and believe that viewers may see an incident out of context. Other believe that protection of children is paramount and justifies the action.

It's purely professional
Article Abstract:
Mental health nurses may sometimes be confused about where to draw the line with regard to their relationship with a patient. Nurses must try to form a close personal relationship to help a patient with mental problems, but this can often be misunderstood and nurses can face the prospect of professional conduct hearings. Community psychiatric nurses are on the front line of dealing with mental patients in their own homes and the public is entitled to know that nurses will not overstep their professional roles.
