Commissioning effectively
Article Abstract:
Nurses need to be aware of the terminology used during health service commissioning procedures. Commissioning nurses need to have the skill to translate health policy into clinical practice. Nurses will have a greater influence over commissioning procedures if they apply themselves and learn how the commissioning cycle works and how it affects patients in their care. Local authorities need to involve nurses in the commissioning process so as to provide better care within the community.

Article Abstract:
Nurses based within hospitals could play an important role in the UK government's national public health policy. A study into the role played by hospital-based nurses highlighted the need for nurses to be educated about public health issues. Promoting public health within hospitals could lead to greater awareness for patients. Nurses are in daily contact with people who would benefit from receiving information regarding public health issues.
