Acceptability of routine HIV testing ("opt-out") in antenatal services in two rural districts of Zimbabwe
Article Abstract:
The acceptability of the use of the routine verbal opt-out strategy for HIV screening during pregnancy among women using maternal and child health services in 2 rural districts of Zimbabwe is evaluated. Results reveal that in Zimbabwe, where 25% of the pregnant women are HIV infected, introducing the opt- out strategy for HIV testing might have a far-reaching public health impact on prevention of mother- to- child transmission of HIV (PMTCT).

Range of normal neutrophil counts in healthy Zimbabwean infants: Implications for monitoring antiretroviral drug toxicity
Article Abstract:
HIV-uninfected healthy infants born to HIV-uninfected women at birth, 10 days, 6 weeks, 3, and 4 months of life were evaluated to establish normal hematologic values in black Zimbabwean infants and to quantify the apparent prevalence of relative neutropenia in this population. The results support the existence of relative neutropenia in healthy black Zimbabwean infants and guidelines for identifying toxicity were changed in December 2004.
