Achieving patient satisfaction: resolving patient complaints
Article Abstract:
Hospital patients are under great stress. They may be afraid of losing control as well as of the consequences of their illness. Patients also expect to participate in their care and the decision-making. For nurses to achieve patient satisfaction, they must put themselves in the patient's place. Factors involved in patient satisfaction include communication, quality management, an emphasis on the patient rather than the institution, clear methods of dealing with complaints quickly, so as to restore quality.

Patient-focused care in parish nursing
Article Abstract:
Nurses practicing within a church body, called parish nurses, can play an important and cost-effective role in bridging the gap between health and spiritual care. Forty parish nurses documented 1800 encounters with elderly fellow church members. Interventions included practical efforts to maintain home care, spiritual and emotional support, identification and referral to additional services, and care for the caregivers. Estimated cost savings for the first 600 visits were over $400,000.
