Article Abstract:
Spasticity refers to involuntary muscle contractions which can occur due to neurological conditions including stroke and multiple sclerosis. It can affect almost any body part, and it is affected by the patient's body position. Nursing interventions include body positioning to prevent reinforcement of the spasticity, passive movement of affected parts, and the administration of drugs to control muscle contractions. Health care professionals must work as a team to prevent spasticity spreading to other parts of the patient's body.
