The allegations regarding a clinical trial, HIVNET 012 of an AIDS drug in Uganda that tested whether short courses of the drug nevirapine could prevent pregnant women in Uganda from passing the disease to their babies is discussed. The Associated Press articles have alleged that there were serious flaws with record keeping in the trail after it started in the year 1997.

Odd epidemic injects shot of doubt about mumps vaccine

Article Abstract:

The US experienced the outbreak of viral illness mumps in 13 states, which first cropped in December 2005, when the Iowa state public health department picked up on a handful of cases. Experts have long known that the vaccine for mumps, given along with shots for measles and rubella in the so-called MMR vaccine is one the weaker childhood jabs.

Uganda gives lessons in stemming the AIDS epidemic

Article Abstract:

Uganda has an aggressive AIDS policy that includes government reports, bulletin boards promoting safe sex, and non-governmental organizations that distribute AIDS literature. A Uganda study shows the drug nevirapine is effective in reducing vertical transmission and is substantially cheaper than AZT.
