Adjustment for case mix in comparisons of cesarean delivery rates: university versus community hospitals in Vermont
Article Abstract:
Differences in the kinds of patients seen at various hospitals could explain why the rates of cesarean delivery vary between hospitals, according to a study of 5,706 deliveries at three hospitals in Vermont. The hospital with the highest cesarean rate also had the highest number of patients who were at high risk for a cesarean.
