Alcohol Screening Questionnaires in Women
Article Abstract:
Certain screening questionnaires for detecting alcohol use in women are more effective than others. Researchers analyzed 13 articles that evaluated several alcohol screening questionnaires, including CAGE, TWEAK, T-ACE and AUDIT. CAGE was effective in screening black women, but not white women, especially at traditional cutoff points. TWEAK and AUDIT were more effective for screening blacks and whites, especially for heavy alcohol use.
