It looks like a quiet summer (for OSHA at least)

Article Abstract:

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is expected to dally through the summer. The two OSHA reform bills separately passed by two Republican legislators are opposed by small business organizations and the administration. Thus, OSHA reform is not one of the issues that may be included in the election campaigns. Little activity is also expected in the organization as rulings concerning the organization are delayed by various activities in the Congress. The standards agenda of the organization will only tackle minor issues and the Voluntary Protection Program will be pushed for approval from companies.

All opposed?: Why decisions in Congress are not going OSHA's way

Article Abstract:

Several bills in Congress have been unfavorable for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Rep Roy Blunt and Sen Christopher Bond are attempting to stop an OSHA ergonomics standard though such standard has not been officially proposed by the agency. The bill seeks to delay the OSHA standard until an ergonomics study by the National Academy of Sciences is completed. Moreover, an OSHA reform bill introduced by Sen Mike Enzi will also undermine the agency's goals.
