America's heroes raped on the job

A former Army Captain Jennifer Machmer, 28, testified during congressional hearings on sexual assault in the military as she was sexually assaulted by a fellow soldier while she was on duty. A newly released study by the Department of Veterans Affairs showed that nearly two-third of women who have served in the National Guard and Reserves are harassed or assaulted.

Iraq is the only place that provides equality to its female population in the field of military service as they take on dangerous jobs which was once exclusively done by men. But still women soldiers are suffering a potentially dangerous form of discrimination as men in the same field are given comparatively more specialized training.

Article Abstract:
Fourteen women of the 50,000 American military women who served at the Iraq war lost their lives at the war. The last letters of five of them written to their families and their loved ones are presented as a tribute to the brave souls.
