Polychlorinated biphenyls and methylmercury act synergistically to reduce rat brain dopamine content in vitro
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that methylmercury and polychlorinated biphenyls, two neurotoxicants, may share a common site of action in their impact on dopamine function. Studies were based on rat brain striatal punches subjected to the toxicants, resulting in alterations to second messenger systems and growth of intracellular calcium.
