Analytical considerations in the use of capture-recapture to estimate prevalence: case studies of the estimation of opiate use in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, Spain
Article Abstract:
Sample size and constitution have a significant impact on the accuracy of the capture-recapture model to monitor behaviors of specific populations. The model was applied to assess opiate usage in Barcelona, Spain. Problems encountered were sample-related, and included source heterogeneity, population definition and size of sample groups, affecting the model's accuracy.
